Design Highlights - 200 Arizona is an 8,000 square foot adaptive reuse of what was formally a semi-industrial facility and has now been transformed into a new state-of-the-art radiology center. Since the construction of the building in the 1960’s, the space was used for a number of uses, originally as a commercial trucking pool. Previous additions and renovations through the years converted the building into a hodgepodge of uses, many of which resulted into number of future construction challenges. Abrupt changes in the concrete floor, party wall locations and non-conforming construction posed major design challenges in order to create a seamless design solution for the new radiology office. However, the building has been successfully given new life as a state-of-the art medical office.

The space consists of a nice blend of sophisticated and sleek building finishes.  Architectural features such as floating ceilings, custom millwork and frameless window walls create a warm and inviting feeling. The public space is playful yet achieves a good balance of form, color and texture.

The floor layout is organized into 4 distinct areas: Administrative, Internet Technology, Client Services, and Chart Reading. Each area is specifically designed to suit the needs of the staff. The Administrative and Chart Reading areas needed to be sound-sensitive and use dedicated lighting controls. While the Internet Technology and Client Services areas are situated in an open office environment. These two areas take advantage of a southern-facing clerestory window which creates a positive and pleasant work environment.

Shelter has developed a solution that aesthetically integrates the existing building into cutting-edge office space. Given a challenging budget and a compressed time schedule, 200 Arizona has become a functionally and aesthetically pleasing office. The attractive yet efficient space makes this a standout work environment for the staff and its clients.
